Intro
Welcome to Season Two of The Solo Grind! My friends, I’m so excited to have you here with me. It’s a new year, a new season, and I’m all kinds of optimistic and ready for 2025. This month, I’m focusing on creating the 2025 of my dreams, and I hope you’ll join me.
Before we dive in, let me pause and talk a little about myself. For those of you who joined me in Season One, welcome back! I’m so excited you’re here. For those of you tuning in for the first time, welcome! I’m thrilled to have you here too.
I’m Teresa Schlup—podcaster, brand strategist, web designer, digital marketer, and the original Caffeine Creative. My focus is helping others shine online. I love what I do, and I love helping others do what they love to do. Now that you know who I am, let’s talk about Season Two of The Solo Grind. If you’re new here, a little recap: I honestly didn’t know if there would be a Season Two. I wanted to give podcasting a try—something I’d dreamed of since 2018. But in 2019, a pesky cancer diagnosis threw me a curveball, and I put my dreams on hold.
Fast forward to 2024, and the time finally felt right to dive in. From the very first episodes, I fell in love with podcasting. And while I didn’t announce it immediately, I knew early on there would probably be a Season Two.
This season, I’ve got an incredible lineup for you—about 15 episodes filled with insights, stories, and inspiration. January’s focus is all about creating vision. You see... I believe we create the life we live, and we do so intentionally. Some people believe life happens to us, and that’s a choice too. But we can also choose to focus, set intentions, and create goals that guide us toward the life we want.
Not everything works out perfectly—my own journey with podcasting is proof of that—but I never lost sight of what I wanted to create. That’s what we’re diving into this month: creating a vision for your life, setting big, audacious goals, and staying aligned even when curveballs come your way.
So dive in to today’s topic: creating the vision of the life you want to have.
We All Have a Vision
Whether we admit it or not, we all have a vision. Some of us suppress it or believe it’s selfish to dream. Over the holidays, I had a conversation with someone whose husband asked if they were happy with how their life turned out. They couldn’t answer. They’d never had any expectations for their life and thought they simply had to be grateful for whatever life handed them.
That mindset made me a little sad. I see life differently. I believe we create the life we want through our choices—big and small. From the food we eat at breakfast to the conversations we have, the books we read, the music we listen to and the shows and movies we watch. Everything shapes the kind of life we live.
If you don’t believe you have a choice, I want to tell you right now—you do. You get to decide what you want in this world. You get to create your vision. And that vision is needed in the world. It doesn’t matter if your vision is to make people laugh, create beautiful clothing, or design safe spaces. It’s not silly. It’s not selfish. It’s necessary.
Your Homework for This Week
If you already know your vision, grab a journal or download my free Goals and Intentions workbook (linked in the show notes). Write down what you want to create in this world. Get specific. Have fun. Make it a process you enjoy.
But what if you don’t know your vision? Maybe you have no idea what you want or want to create—or maybe you have way too many ideas—here are some reflection questions to help:
- What do you most desire to do with your life...the one thing you would do for FREE if you could do anything and money was not a concern?
- Why? What excites you most about this desire?
- Why is that so important to you?
- How could you make this happen? List all the things you could do (big and small) that would make this a reality. Don’t forget to include all the things you are already doing to support your vision.
Spend some time with these questions. Find a quiet space, grab a comforting beverage, and let your mind explore. And if you want an example of what a vision can look like be sure to download the Goals and Intentions workbook! I share my vision which actually hasn't really changed in the last 10 or so years!
