3 Secrets to a Website People Actually Want to Visit
If you’ve ever landed on a website and felt instantly overwhelmed, you already know what not to do. The truth is, creating a stunning website isn’t about throwing everything you have onto a page — it’s about making it clear, comfortable, and welcoming.
Today I’m sharing three of my go-to secrets for building a site your dream clients will not only stick around on, but actually enjoy visiting.
1. Keep it simple
Less really is more when it comes to web design. If your homepage looks like a jam-packed closet, visitors won’t know where to look, or worse, they’ll hit the back button.
That means:
☕ Keep text short and skimmable.
☕ Use images intentionally (not everywhere just because you can).
☕ Limit the pop-ups. One well-placed invite is plenty.
The goal? A site that’s easy on the eyes and easy to navigate. You want people to land on your page and think, “Ahh, I get it. This is where I’m supposed to be.”
2. Focus on the experience
Design isn’t just about how your site look. It’s about how it feels to use. This is where user experience (UX) comes in.
Ask yourself:
☕ What’s the first thing I want visitors to see?
☕ How do I want them to feel while they’re here?
☕ What’s the very first step I want them to take?
If you make people dig for answers, they’ll leave. But if your site is intuitive, responsive, and flows naturally, they’ll stick around, and maybe even smile while they do.
A few quick wins:
☕ Clear, simple navigation
☕ Buttons that say exactly what they do (no mystery links)
☕ A site that works beautifully on every device (because most people are scrolling on their phones first)
3. Keep it fresh
Even the prettiest website starts to feel stale if nothing changes. Fresh content tells visitors (and Google) that you’re active, engaged, and in tune with what your people need.
That doesn’t mean cranking out a blog every week if that’s not your thing. It could be as simple as:
☕ Adding a new testimonial or case study
☕ Updating your services if something’s shifted
☕ Sharing a new blog, podcast, or video every now and then
Think of your website like your living room. If nothing has moved in three years, it feels forgotten. Swap in a new story or update and suddenly it feels alive again.
You don’t need flashy tricks to create a stunning website.
What you need is clarity, intention, and a little consistency. Keep it simple. Focus on the experience. Keep it fresh. Do that, and you’ll have a website people don’t just click into, but one they connect with.
